India was the first country after Great Britain to start the game of golf. Since then many golf courses have been created in India. I will list down all of the working golf courses in India with some basic details to help golf enthusiasts in India. In total there are around 35-40 golf courses in India, however here I am listing just the courses located in North India. I will cover the rest some other day as the list is too huge to be squeezed in a single article.
Agra Golf Club: It’s a nine holes golf course located in Agra spread across 3000 yards. You can also enjoy glimpse of Taj Mahal while playing at some holes.
Chandigarh Golf Club: This 18 holes golf course was founded in the year 1966. It is a 7202 yards and par-72 course. You will always find it open, all throughout the year.
Forest Hill Golf Resort: Located in Chandigarh, this 9-hole, par 72 and 6904 yards long course is one of the toughest in the country. It is just a ten-minute drive from the Sukhna Lake.
Delhi Golf Club: IT was created by the British in the year 1931. This 18 holes and 6882 yards is the oldest golf course in Delhi.
Qutub Golf Club: This golf course is a par 70 situated in Delhi. It is named after the historical monument Qutub minar. It is a beginner’s golf course spread across 5900 yards and 18 holes.
Noida Golf Club: This 18 holes course was created in the year 1989. It is situated closer to Delhi at sector-30 Noida.
Jaypee Greens Golf Resort: Founded in the year 2001, this 18-hole, 7335 yards golf course is situated in greater Noida. It is the longest course in the country as well as in Asia.
Golden Greens Golf & Country Club: Located at Gurgaon, 25 kms from the International airport, this 18-hole, par 72, 7100 yards championship course is replete with strategically placed bunkers on meandering fairways which look like olive green crumpled blankets.
Classic Golf Resort: This golf course is also located at Gurgaon. The Classic Golf Resort is a signature course of the great Jack ‘Golden Bear’ Nicklaus. It’s an 18 holes, par 72 and 7114 yards course.
Gulmarg Golf Club: It was established by Sir Neville Chamberlain while India was under the rule of British in 1891. Gulmarg now has a 6,760 yards, par 72, 18 holes golf course.
The Royal Springs Golf Club: This 6,985 yards, par 72, 18 holes golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones. This course is situated in Srinagar - Chashmeshahi area.
Rambagh Palace & Golf Club: It is a part of Rambagh Palace Hotel in Jaipur. It is an 18-hole, par 71 and around 6400-6500 yards golf course.
Shimla Golf Club: It was founded in the year 1920. The course is carpeted by fine springy turf, which requires little maintenance. The par 68 Course is basically located in a bowl and has nine holes, which can be played twice for a 18-hole experience.
